We Taken Over

J. Crew has agreed to a $3 billion takeover by two private equity firms. TPG Capital and Leonard Green & Partners say they plan to work with J. Crew Chief Executive Mickey Drexler, who will remain in that role and maintain a "significant equity investment" in the New York-based company, the Wall St. Journal reports.

Drexler, the former head of The Gap, has doubled sales to more than $1.5 billion during his tenure and will personally pocket $150 million from the deal, the San Francisco Chronicle notes

Harvard Yard

Harvard University, yes, Harvard University, is launching a contemporary menswear line called Harvard Yard.

Good or bad move?

The university just signed a ten-year licensing deal with Wearwolf Group, a major clothing manufacturer.

The clothes won't say "Harvard University" on them or don the schools colors except in the fine details as they aren't geared toward their own students, but a larger contemporary male demographic.

The line, which will range in price from $165 for pants to $495 for sport coats, was inspired by photos of students lounging in Harvard Yard in the '60s.

John Fowler, creative director for the line, says "it's a style that has become current again and not just with the American consumer. We think Harvard Yard will have global appeal."

I think it's a good idea, but have they checked out the economy lately! Apparently not! Who's paying that kind of money these days?

I guess he forgot where he came from, and not everyone is rich like him! By the time I save up to buy these, they'll be like reebok , old and wack! If you can afford them, they'll be out June '09.
